USC women's coach Caryl Smith-Gilbert guided the Trojans to their second national title in program history with a 53-52 victory over Georgia at the NCAA Division 1 Outdoor Championships on June 9, 2018 at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon.
West Ranch's Timothy Sterkel, West Torrance's Rory Abberton, Redlands East Valley's Elias Opsahl and Burroughs' Jagdeep Chahal led a field that qualified 9 of 12 runners in the boys 1600-meter race at the Southern Section Masters Meet at El Camino College in Torrance, CA. Chahal won the race with a time of 4:11.09, Abberton finished second at 4:11.26, Opsahl was third at 4:11.66 and Sterkel placed fourth at 4:11.97.
